While it is nice to see deer in your own back garden (at least according to the rest of my family), I’d rather that they didn’t eat the vegetation so lustily. This morning, when I went outside, this muntjac deer was chomping on the laurel hedge around the raised vegetable beds. He seems to be steadily striping the leaves off the corner plants and has already levelled the chard crop and strawberry plants in the beds. So destructive and always identifiable because of the little ‘V’ hoof prints.
Shortly afterwards, on the way back, I had to shoo off a rabbit from the same general vicinity.
I don’t stand a chance until we fence the area off properly!
