Wordless Wednesday – A long-awaited … passionflower

The first flower on my seed-sown Passiflora caerulea appeared at the end of October!!

It has been entertaining to watch the foliage spread over the arch all summer

But the passionflowers themselves are amazing, well worth the wait, with anthers and stigmas so prominent and suited to purpose.

The corona is a delicate, exotic ruff around that slender throat holding the ovary aloft.

I do hope it survives the winter, then maybe I will get more flowers and orange fruits next year.

This is my dream plant. Passion is a perfect name for it. I have a red one, also.
