Up on Johnson’s Hill, Wimpole, just south of the Folly, stands my favourite oak tree

It’s many branches twist and stretch wide across the hillside

They provide shelter, perches and homes for many small creatures

And when they are gilded with frost they are magnificent
Oh, how my jaw dropped when I saw the last image. The sky is gorgeous too.
I know … a hoar frost and blue skies. It doesn’t happen very often! This was a couple of years ago now
I can see why that’s your favourite Oak Alison, how beautiful and your last image is stunning. Very uplifting.
Thanks Julie. The oak has had the space and light to optimise it’s growth, plus is has the beautiful backdrops, whichever way you look.
It’s a beauty!
🙂
A fine specimen, exceptional when frosted!
The best!
Gorgeous especially that last image.
Thanks. That was a lucky shot in so many ways and an hour later, of course, was gone
Oaks are art.
Yes, from the tips of their acorns to their roots … and the best native tree for wildlife.
Great photos!
Thanks. I’ve been enjoying your oaks too!
🙂
Oooh, just gorgeous tree. Oh, and the photos are pretty great, too!
This tree is indeed splendid and brings back happy memories of our kids sitting on the branches when little!
