Imagine the scent as you take the middle path … That’s Daphne ‘Jacqueline Postill‘ on both sides. Delicious!
Daphne bholua ‘Jacqueline Postill‘
The Winter Garden at Cambridge Botanical Gardens is designed as a dell and surrounded by hedges. Shielded from the noise of traffic, it is veritable sense sensation.
Chimonanthus praecox ‘Grandiflorus’
A brilliant green grass-edged path winds through the shallow valley which was designed so that sunlight illuminates some features and backlights others.
Star of the show (IMHO) currently is Hamamelis × intermedia ‘Jelena’
The plan is available as a PDF, as is the planting List

Living in the damp middle of nowhere
it all looks so beautiful, not just the plants but the calmness and sunlight too, Frances
Yes, it was cleverly planned and is a very popular destination round here. They do alter the planting from time to time, but the well-chosen trees and shrubs remain a very successful backbone to the area and of course get bigger and better each year.
What a good idea to make the planting list pdf available. Thanks for sharing!
Definitely, especially since the list is subdivided into helpful categories and illustrated! (It is what I like about the Chelsea flower show too)
So gorgeous! Is that first shot taken during spring or summer?
All the photos were taken last week … so winter! It is lovely to linger at the lowest point, totally surrounded. It is like an inverse auditorium.
I wish we lived closer. ( Garden envy).
No need, with Croome nearby I think, but I recognise how luck I am too.
