Red hot pokers blazing away beside the old city wall in West Quay, Southampton

Successfully lighting up the roadside on a dull day

And still being enjoyed by the bees. How can I not be a fan?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen these in real life. They surely must be grown around here. If they’re around, you’d think I’d notice, with those vibrant colors!
I’d have thought so, but maybe nobody likes them? A lot of people don’t seem to!
They grow here in Austin, but are typically spring bloomers. I’ve only seen them in cultivated gardens, never in any greenspace. I’ve never grown them, but they’re show stopper, to be sure. Great photos!
Thx for the info Tina. 😉
They’re beautiful – and great title!
