Wordless Wednesday – Pussy Willow

Pussy willow trimmings

Pussy Willow: These are trimmings from some of the willow support structures that they were making at Wimpole Estate last week. And of course I checked how soft those little paws were 🙂!  Did you know that … You can add your own observations of signs of spring to Nature’s Calendar (UK) citizen science project here

How well I remember the softness of these catkins. With forsythia, they were among our very first signs of spring; cutting a bunch to bring into the house was an annual ritual.

    • Yes, delightfully soft! 🙂
Sadly I ripped all our forsythia out, when I decided I didn’t like it’s take-over tendencies and short flowering season. I do like seeing it in vases though, so maybe I was slightly hasty.
