A female hairy-footed bee flying around, tongue at the ready to sup down that delicious wallflower nectar. The ‘Blood Red’ strain seems to be her favourite (probably because it smells of cherries!!)

That deep, deep red is so appealing. I’m sure the bee finds it as tasty as it is attractive!
I think so!
Lovely shots! I wonder if nectar from different plants tastes different to the insects….
I’ve wondered that too. I think that it is inevitable, given the spectrum of shapes, colours and scents. Why not nectar flavours?
Great series of photos, and an obliging bee – many a time I fave failed and a bee has moved on before I could capture it!
I think the females get a bit fixated on their next hit, so that makes things easier. The males are harder to photograph, as they tend to zip around looking for females 🤣 … and honestly, I spend too many hours watching/snapping them!
Oh, that’s interesting, something that had not occurred to me…thanks 👍
