Wordless Wednesday – Peonies

peonies4

Yesterday I returned to the nearby PYO peony field that I discovered last year … only to read, at the entrance, that it is being rested. But since I was there, I got my phone out, instead of my scissors, and took some pictures.

So here is a shot of the recovering plants.

Not too shoddy in any case!

And I am looking forward to next year already 🙂

  1. Wow! That is beautiful!

A field of peonies? I never would have imagined it. Are they being grown for the floral trade? For sale as garden plants? For their seed? Whatever the purpose, they’re beautiful.

    • Floral trade. The farm shop is well known for its fresh flower trade, but last year I discovered that they also open parts of their fields to the public so they can pick their own blooms. This field is recovering from last year’s trampling, but apparently another one, closer to the farm shop, is open. It’s certainly a wonderful thing to walk between the rows, brushing passed the plants and inhaling their delicious aroma.

Lovely. They were one of my mum’s favourite flowers so she had several in her garden. xx

Good grief!! How glorious! What much would you normally expect to pay for them (approximately)?

  5. Eliza Waters says:

Wow, looks like heaven on earth to me! 🙂

  6. I think that could be called a field of dreams. Who would love to be surrounded by the heavenly fragrance of hundreds or thousands of peonies?

  7. Cathy says:

Oh my goodness! What a fabulous sight! (And smell?) Heavenly!

That is extraordinary! How I’d love to have that nearby.
